Selling pet products in USA
The United States is the largest market for Shopify pet brands, and it is also the market where slow delivery does the most damage. American shoppers are used to fast domestic shipping, so a parcel that takes three weeks from China generates refund requests regardless of how good the product is.
How your parcels get there
We typically route US parcels through YunExpress or 4PX into the United States, with USPS handling the final delivery.
We do not force every parcel down the same route. The line we use depends on the destination, the weight and size of the product, and how fast you need it to arrive. When a product is awkward, whether bulky, heavy or restricted, we tell you before you start selling it rather than after the first shipment is stuck.
Duty and tax are paid before delivery
Every parcel ships Delivered Duty Paid (DDP). Import duty and tax are settled before the parcel reaches your customer, so nobody is asked to pay anything at the door. The last leg is handed to USPS, so your customer gets familiar domestic tracking. The delivered price we quote you already includes the duty and tax for the United States.
One honest note. Import rules change, and they change faster than websites get updated. Because every parcel ships Delivered Duty Paid, keeping up with them is our job, not your customer's.
